Placing rods during spinal surgery is one of the most decisive steps in stabilizing the spine. Rods link screws anchored across multiple vertebrae, distributing load and holding corrected alignment steady until bone fusion takes place. \nHistorically, rod placement created recurring frustrations. Screw heads often failed to align neatly with pre-shaped rods, forcing surgeons to bend rods further or exert pressure to snap them into place. These maneuvers added steps and complexity and sometimes introduced mechanical stress to implants.

\nThe consequences of difficult rod seating extend beyond inconvenience. Clinical reviews found rod–screw mismatches in more than 40 percent of patients.
